Have you picked up any tips from working with Johny Hendricks - if so, what - and do you think your ground game is improving?
Alan Erskine, West Bromwich
Unfortunately I didn't make it out to Texas to train with Hendricks; this has been rescheduled for 2013. Hendricks is a high-level collegiate wrestler and a lot of the fighters I have lost to by decision or have had difficulties with have been wrestlers. Johny emailed me and asked for my help, I'm guessing with his striking. I'll probably stay out there for a couple of weeks. I am constantly working to improve all my skills, we work hard at the Spirit Dojo [in Nottingham] to do this. Kenny Johnson, my wrestling coach and a former Olympian, I fly him in to the UK. He stays about two weeks each time; he's a good guy.
Apart from heart, determination and skill, what does it take to get to the top?
Charlie Kelly, Romford
To get to the top you must be dedicated, it's not easy, there are a lot of ups and downs along the way. Win or lose, you've got to keep focused and keep going.
Would you ever consider crossing over to boxing like Matt Skelton and Dillian Whyte?
John Dunleavey, Liverpool
I did consider going to boxing in the past. If I was going to do another combat sport it would be kickboxing, like K1 or Glory. It's good money for starters and I already train with guys who do kickboxing at the highest level when I go to Amsterdam, so I know I can compete. It's too late for pure boxing. I've been doing kickboxing for a long time. Boxing, you need a good amateur pedigree to compete at a good level. I've had 16 kickboxing fights already, won one and lost two. It would be an easier transition.
